When Motorpoint were looking for a new dealer management system specifically tailored for the growing business, Fastlane Systems rose to the challenge, prepared a detailed specification and proposal and secured the commission for the installation of VIPER.


VIPER is written specifically for the Car Supermarket retail trade. It has roots dating back to the pioneering days before car supermarkets were known as such.

Karl Stafford developed and installed a dealer management system to the Motorhouse of Cannock in the early 1990’s. Known as VPack, this was probably the first DMS which incorporated a truly integrated customer facing Sales screen (rather than a “bolt on” module).

Whereas VPack was developed using the hybrid MSDOS/Netware/NT platform favoured in the 90’s, VIPER was designed from the outset to make full use of Windows technology while retaining and further developing the acclaimed user friendliness of VPack.

VIPER is a fully networked suite of integrated modules utilising Windows technology. The data is held on robust industry standard MS SQL database tables.

VIPER integrates the functions of vehicle purchase, vehicle sales, vehicle movements, workshop preparation, key tracking, service history tracking, VAT calculations (Margin, Qualifying and Commercial) under one integrated user dashboard.
